You can prevent things from being passed by veto, not get things passed. Reagan did sign Simpson-Mazzoli which gave amnesty to then illegals, but the act also made it illegal to knowingly hire or recruit illegal aliens and required employers attest to their employees' legal status. But it wasn't tough enough. It was probably the best that could be done at the time legislatively. I note you're diverting to Reagan. What about your own party which is FOR things like giving illegals drivers licenses and against fencing the border?

e had no trouble getting massive tax cuts enacted and his other programs encated and raising the budget deficit from Carters' 50 billion deficit to 250 billion which went on for 8 years of Raygun and 4 years of bush sr. Reagan tax cuts were massively bipartisan.
