We would blow, bluster, threaten, and negotiate and nothing else.

Concur.
Blow, bluster and threaten is all Obama ever does.

We would allow (under Obama) them to take Taiwan as long as they promised to be nice to them.

No military needed. China knows that if it invades Taiwan, it's out of business with the West. Their economy collapses. This is the Chinese Military keeping themselves occupied.

Taiwan and the mainland are "cheek by jowal" now. But good military fences make good neighbors.

Next big source of tension in that area will be offshore mineral rights. It should be a NK regime change, but we don't have the guts to force it.

I wonder if China will take the opportunity of Obama being in office to forcibly reunite Taiwan.

The world knows Obama is a paper tiger and we haven't begun to see the results of that yet.
