We got an email from the "U.S. Treasury" yesterday (in the spam box) telling us after review of our account we were due for a refund of $2438.20. All I had to do was click on the download link at the bottom of the email.

I was suspicious right away. I went to the U.S. treasury web site and with the intention of getting a phone number so I could call them. I found the number and got a "this number has been disconnected" message, but I found a fraud page telling me the IRS never emails individuals. I also sent the email forward to them.

Yes..........there are a lot of scam artists out there. I haven't received anything like what you describe, but I'll be on the lookout and let you know if I do.

That is of concern. On the other hand, please treat seriously any emails that deal with me. However, rather than send the money to the address listed in the email, I'd suggest you send it to the address many of you have for me on the Christmas Card list. <ggg>

Carolyn, I was relieved to hear after we talked on the phone that there wasn't an "emergency." SI is better.
