"How about the practice of medical MD residents being required to work 24-48 hours at a time.....how many mistakes are associated with that routine.??" I think that right there is a cause of of high rate of medical mistakes. It should be illegal. Same for airline pilots. We already do this with big rig truckers - they're REQUIRED to sleep a certain number of hours a day. Is a trucker more dangerous alseep on his feet than your surgeon or your airline pilot? The NEXT 9/11 might be just a sleeping, "patriotic" pilot!
