If there's an argument in the documentary it can be presented in text that will take seconds to minutes to read, rather than spending an a half hour to several hours to watch a documentary. Thousands of points come up in SI discussions. I can't watch a show or movie to evaluate every one of them. Even a short internet video isn't the most efficient way to proceed. (But sometimes I'm willing to view them, for example I saw the first one you linked to)

I'm less interested in spending a lot of time to get the images and impressions, then I am in examining the claims and arguments, and the facts, methodology, and logic behind them. If the argument is convincing, or esp. if its pretty convincing but needs some backup for me to really be accepted, then I might go back and watch the documentary.
