Strangely, that is effectively the same argument you and other liberals made back in '03 when it was passed.

We need this legislation, you see. Because now, we have seniors going to the doctor and getting prescriptions that they can't afford to get filled. The result is sicker seniors which cost us more, so we NEED part D.

Kind of like your bogus prevention argument.

The reality is that Part D seems to be on a trend of getting cheaper and we should be pleased about that. We're stuck with the program, and it should not have been done. But it was done correctly, with private insurance running it instead of government, and the result is a highly cost-effective program.

It is typical liberal tripe. Bush gave you guys something but it wasn't enough. He shouldn't have done it but he caved to the Left. And he has been bashed by the Left for doing so ever since. Hopefully, future Rs will learn -- you cannot deal with Ds because they aren't honest players.
