A man named Frank Rodriguez died of liver failure in a Colorado prison while on death row, in 2002.

He had kidnapped, raped, tortured, and murdered his victim in 1984. He was caught on the night of the murder, and convicted and sentenced to death in 1986.

According to the prosecutor of the case, "at the time of his death we were still waiting for another appellate court to act."

The local media reported that his family had celebrated upon being informed of his death. He had "beaten the rap".
