It doesn't MATTER who "coined the phrase" - common usage OWNS it.

Gay used to mean happy and carefree - now it means homosexual. Rush has LOST CONTROL of "his" word.

"Hey, Rush coined the phrase "Dittoheads","

So? During the 1970s, in what eventually became the open source software movement, the term 'hacker' was one of pride. It denoted someone who could make computers dance and sing with elegant and beautifully written software. But the media co-opted it and used it to describe what has called 'crackers', those who like to exploit security flaws. So, along with 'linoleum' and 'aspirin', the word passed into general usage in a different form.

Such has happened with 'dittohead'. There is no ownership of such words except by general usage.
