Microsoft, as well as Intel, is also very active in trying to affect their stock price.

As recent experience shows, they put just as much effort into talking down the price of their stock when they think its over-valued as they do in talking it up if they think its too cheap. Believe me, many Microsoft holders were not pleased to read in Barrons that Microsoft's CFO said the stock price was way too expensive, but in the long run, the market rewards consistency in stock price movements.
