And if they have comfy chairs to sit and read in...

we have a Books-a-Million here, no great shakes, but it does have an in-store coffee cafe. there's not a whole lot to do here, so that attracts a lot of young people, and they sit inside or at the outside tables and... gulp, read! I thought the coffee addition rather silly, but turns out it is a draw for youngers as a hang-out and it gets them around books.

Over the past 20+ years I accumulated more than 220 books on investing and trading. About 2 years ago I went through all of them, pulled out no more than 2 or 3, and gave the rest to my local library. All were in excellent condition. They try to sell them first and if that doesn't work they will recycle. I still read quite a lot (every day). I don't read much fiction at all and never have. I'm somewhat into history at the moment and some Christian books. Our church group passes these books around, so there isn't a lot of new buying going on.

There's a wonderful little used book store in Port Townsend....couple of doors up from Nifty Fiftys Diner....The book store is organized, lots of unusual books, and not really expensive, although it could be for some first editions of sought after books...
