Reported By Kelli Cook ORLANDO -- Orange County Mayor Richard Crotty says he's not running for the District 8 congressional seat. So who is in when it comes to challengers for incumbent Democrat Alan Grayson? It's a tough decision as Republicans try to figure out who is best to win back the district that was historically Republican. "The fact of the matter is it would have been a competitive race,” Crotty said. “I believe I would have prevailed but that's in the rearview mirror now. We're looking to the future." Crotty was once thought as a front-runner to oust Grayson. Even though Crotty's name is out, there are plenty of potential others -- such as state Rep. Stephen Precourt, who is considered by many analysts as adding a young, fresh face to the Republican Party. Others include attorney Tico Perez, who told News 13 he is far from making any decision about running for this seat. Former state Rep. Daniel Webster is reportedly supposed to make a decision about running this week. A new name in the political game is Timothy Seneff, the president of CNL Financial Group. "Tim Seneff is a young man who can go probably be very competitive with Congressman Grayson who's known for spending his own money," Crotty said. News 13 attempted to contact Seneff. His secretary said he's not ready to talk to media just yet. Republicans have a tough race ahead to take down Grayson -- a man who's been making waves in the House. "I was talking to someone this morning. Alan Grayson maybe the most well-known congressman from the state of Florida at this point, and he's only a freshman," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. Dyer, a Democrat, said Tuesday no one fights for this district more than Grayson. An official with the Orange County Democrats apparently agree, saying they are happy with Grayson's performance and there are no plans to have another Democrat run against him. So far, Grayson is the only name for the Democrats in this race. On the Republican side, it's William Collins, Daniel Fanelli and Albert Kerr. Gregory Thomas and Marvin Hutson are listed as no party affiliation.cfnews13.com
