"Brumar, I've worked with at least two Russian coworkers who would call B.S. on Ted's assumptions about the former Soviet Union."

I had a chance to visit there once...having to do with the electronics industry. Nearly everything there was the result of reverse engineering. They even "reverse engineered" the HP catalog and copied the HPIB logo. Very little, if any, original development.

Downtown Moscow didn't look too bad (for PR purposes) but outside the ring road around the city.....it was third world.

I have that experience too as I related to Tejek. I've worked with a bunch from Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan - both ethnic Russians and other ethnic groups.
