Maintaining power for 70 years by gulag and firing squad doesn't meet my criteria for success. Which was the first country to put a satellite into orbit? At one point Russia's scientists were some of the best in the world. They certainly had good scientists and some achievements. But overall they failed to provide much for their people. I know that must come as a real shocker to a nationalistic ideologue like you. To liberals anyone who doesn't look down on America and Americans is a nationalistic idealogue. Yet it will enrage most liberals who read it. I never said it was wonderful place......it esp. wasn't great in the 1980s when it was in decline. It was never any better than in the 1980's. I might mention that I work and have worked over the years with a lot of people from the former USSR - ethnic Russians & ethnic Kazakhs from Russia, Siberia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan - in fact the guy in the office next to mine currently is a Russian born in Kazakhstan. And what I've told you is universally their opinion too. I see......you traveled the Soviet Union extensively when it existed. How long did it take you to cover the country? Nope, a lot of their infrastructure is still standing. Were you guided by a government in making your real estate decisions? No Then your example doesn't support your theme. You're an idiot. I accept your surrender. As a consequence, Seattle is one of the few built out cities that is experiencing population growth. Normal for TX, for decades, heck I guess since the time of the Republic. Yes, by annexation.......its much harder for a city in WA state to annex. Annexation is part of it. Look on annexation as simply expansion, growth.
