My grandfather, a dentist in Alexandria, MN, used to treat the poor people in town after hours. His office had those tiny tiles on the floor and he would turn the heat off to save money. He stayed late one night and the tile got slippery because of the cold - it was November - and he slipped and hit his head on the side of his desk. He wasn't found until the next morning. He was 52. My grandmother died in January at the age of 50 - of a broken heart.
