That goes for talking to judges while contesting a traffic ticket as well.

When I was in law school a friend of mine decided to contest a ticket. His goal was to show that the officer could not possibly have adequately clocked him. At the conclusion of what I was lead to believe was a brilliant cross-ex, the judge asked whether my friend wished to take the stand. High from his triumphant examination of the officer, he took the stand and swore the oath.

The judge then said, "So, were you speeding?"

Goes to show that it's easy to outsmart yourself even if you know the right questions to ask....lol.

Exactly... That same lawyer also told me to imagine that everything I commit to writing might someday be in front of a judge.
