Cheaper labor performed by the sons of slaves bred by their masters to work hard for long hours. Even pumped up on coffee, fat ex-lumberjacks can't compete.

The reason Boeing went with SC is because the union would not agree to a no strike clause. I mean why bother to have a union if you can't strike. Interestingly enough, the union has only struck Boeing twice in 30 years. You would think given the high quality workers here they would put up with the union. Instead, a few years back, Boeing moved its headquarters to Chicago because they felt mgmt was too friendly with the union.

The ultimate irony is that the parts coming out of SC for the past few years have been markedly inferior. Boeing thinks by owning the plant that will make things better....they will have better control over quality. They can't seem to make a connection btween the craziness in SC's politics and the general lack of pride in workmanship in the state.

The truth is Boeing is a low margin company run by geeks whose major competitor is subsidized by 4 gov'ts. And now China is talking about building planes. It would be nice if WA state could wean itself off of Boeing but it has too big a footprint here.
