Sounds like my college days, except the best deal on seafood was frozen haddock. Now my best deal is fresh or frozen Alaskan sockeye salmon (headed & gutted) for around $6 pound.

We also have terrific local carrots, potatoes and beets. The growing conditions are great and the soil is quite pest-free compared to other parts of the world. In a crisis, one could live pretty well on local food.

Oh yes, we have the best drinking water too... ;)
