The Republican who heads up the federal agency overseeing the construction of Alaska's proposed natural gas pipeline is stepping down.

Drue Pearce, a former Alaska Senate president, was asked by President Barack Obama to step down from the small agency, known as the Office of the Federal Coordinator. ...

As the only Democrat in the Alaska Congressional delegation, it'll be up to Sen. Mark Begich to recommend a replacement.


Rumor has it that Larry Persily is being considered as her replacement. He's a former Palin employee who became a Palin critic, and not a pom-pom waving type...

Gov. Sean Parnell, who was Gov. Palin’s lieutenant governor at the time, announced on Friday that the state and pipeline-builder TransCanada have agreed to terminate their working relationship under AGIA but remain engaged in pursuit of a pipeline. TransCanada was the winning company chosen under the AGIA process, which was approved overwhelmingly by the Legislature — 37-1 in the House and 20-0 in the Senate.
