To all I have offended concerning Datek problems in the past.

On tuesday I placed two trades before the openning, one with Datek and one with Ameritrade, the market dropped through my limit befor it openned and then soon turned up. I immediately placed a cancel on both. This was about 9:45 AM. The Datek cancel took a bit longer than usual maybe a minute or two, in the meantime I had first cancelled the Ameritrade as it was approximately twice as big. I waited about an hour and finally my Order Status page showed cancelled so I ceased worrying about it.

To my susprise I was going to do a trade with Ameritrade this morning and checked my cash available and it was about $15000 more than it should have been, Yep the trade went through. BTW they split it into three lots, three seperate sales. one at 3 1/2 one at my limit of 3 1/8 and one at 3 3/8. Nice I got a price improvement. I called and keeping much cooler than my normal self was quiet but firm. After a while on hold (about 15 minutes) the phone person came back and said he would have to check further and would call me back. I insisted on a supervisor and was passed up to on after about another five minutes on hold. (the call was answered after the voice mail system in about 2 rings) I talked to the supervisor who said the MM would not reverse the trade and told them that they would have to eat it and he said they would not that I placed the trade and therefor it was my fault.

In the mean time a contacted Christopher Johnson at Ameritrade by email, he responded by email in about 2 minutes, quicker than I could have gotten through on the phone to a representative with the voice mail system and all. He handles among otherthings publicity problems on the Internet and SI. He said he would check and see what he could do. So I next put this message on the Ameritrade thread exchange2000.com

I then copied the post to the clip board and started another post ot Chris, before I could finish typing it Chris had emailed me this:

Saw your post. I'm waiting for the VP to get back from a meeting but he's been out a while. I'll let you know what info I get from him as
soon as I know.

CJ

That was 2 hours ago and I am at the present time waiting for his responce.

This gives me mixed emotions about Ameritrade. There executions and confirmations stank, their system gave rotten information, they refused responsibility, but they do have some very very very good customer service reps, though that supervisor could well have been hired from Dateks rejects.

Would I recommend Ameritrade now, no but I would recommend that they give CJ a raise. Do I prefer Datek, absolutely, Am I crying about that $2500 loss, some but an I screaming cuss words on either thread? I'm pragmatic, I guess problems happen, hopefully that VP will agree and split the difference with me. If not well you'll hear it hear, on the ameritrade thread, on Motley Fool, on John Tara's Stock Club and probably dozens of other places and other threads.

Should they make a satisfactory correction you will hear that also.
