Our high-benefit/high-tax model no longer works, especially compared with low-tax states like Texas. TX is all about commodities and manufacturing. Its tech that's the big prize The only concentration of tech is in Austin, the liberal bastion of TX. CA has a huge concemtration of tech and is spawning new tech industries every day. CA also has 4 of the 'smart' cities in the county: Sacramento, SF, SJ, and SD. BTW Austin is one of those 'smart' cities as well. They are the future of this country; not commodity extraction and manu.
