We get most of our power from Hydroelectric plants, so I hadn't thought there would be the need for any coal fired power plants in the PNW, but I was wrong. There are a few, although not nearly as many as in other regions.

It is a bet against the idea US coal production is going to die. One, cap and trade may not pass. Two, if it does, there may be ways coal plants can stay in business by buying carbon credits (CO2 (to be pumped underground) could become a new revenue source for natural gas producers, chemical plants, refiners):
