Look at the last presidential election. Extreme right wingers HATE John McCain, but the (R) party ended up with him as the nominee, so they could look "reasonable" to the general electorate. The right wing was sold out. Good point. What the extreme wingers fail to realize is that so many of their fellow extreme wingers like Delay, Larry Craig and the 'Christian' reverends got discredited either for fooling around outside their marriage or for getting caught in corruption. The more moderate part of the party......people like McCain......were cleaner. They probably believe if PALIN had been at the top of the ticket, they'd have WON! Can you imagine......she would have quit the presidency after the first year because it was TOO HARD! Did you know her ratings have dropped below 40% for the first time and keep going down since she quit the governor's office?
