That makes Obama’s health-care "reform" package look iffy and his other big plans for remaking America look even iffier. With the hope having faded, enthusiasm for change seems much diminished. From a mythic figure, Obama has shrunk to an ordinary politician — and, so far, not an obviously deft one.

I agree with Glenn Reynolds. And Mickey Kaus too, who says the "Congressional Id", the thing that controls primal re-election fears, will be throbbing tomorrow.

Everybody who is near DC please join Michelle Bachman's rally on Thursday on the Capital Steps!

I'm beginning to have real hopes that Obamacare won't pass after all. I know CW says they have to pass something, but actually, no they don't, not if they are going to die for it (electorally speaking). Pelosi and Reid's bills are such gargantuan unwieldy messes that it's like pushing a boulder up a hill to pass them, and a boulder made of compressed garbage too, that stinks more and falls apart more day by day. I remember when CW thought Hillarycare would pass too. Come to think of it, Hillarycare was small, practical and elegant by comparison.

the elections underscored radical Obama’s political weakness just one year after his triumphant victory over Republican liberal John McCain.

It was a great quote before I fixed it. It is better now.
