Interesting thing happened last nite locally. I don't know if you remember me telling you but there was a winger here who keeps putting propositions on the ballot that reduce taxes and spending by the legislature. He has had mixed results getting them passed and one that did pass was declared unconstitutional. In any case, he's been trying to do to WA state what has happened to CA and to a lesser extent OR. This year he proposed 1033 which would limit future spending to this year's tax revenues which are at a 10 year low. It would have been the death knell for the state. What had me worried is the current state of the economy.....I figured people would go for it....anything to keep taxes down low. Surprisingly, the measure is going down to a big defeat.........11%tage points.

And remember the woman who was an R who campaigned two years ago to make all pol. campaigns in King County non partisan. She too is going down to a big defeat....also a major surprise.

I keep hoping people are getting savvier......and maybe they are.
