Australia spends 8.7% of its GDP on health care spending. The US spends 15%, of which roughly half is spent by the US Government for Medicare, Medicaid, veterans. So, for roughly the same government spending as the US, Australia takes care of its entire population. An efficient health care system does wonders for a country's economic health.
