She is a news reporter, and one would assume that the news writer simply made a mistake. It happens every day on CNN and MSNBC and CBS and ABC and particularly, in the NYT. This is such a minimal slip up I wouldn't expect any further mention of it. If you want examples of truly egregious mistakes look at MSNBC and CNN, in which the term "mistake" strains all credulity.
