When I was 16 a friend and I would drive the 20 miles to Eau Claire to bowl all the time. We are returning one night and about 1 mile out of Fall Creek we get pulled over by the Fall Creek cop who tells us our tail lights were not working. We tried but were unable to make them work and he said that vehicle does not leave here. I said take us back to town to call for a ride and he said it's not my problem. So rather then walk the one mile back to his shit town we decide to walk the 9 miles to our town. Now of course nobody is going to pick up two 6 footers at midnight so we walked all the way until the edge of town where we were picked up by our local cop who then at 1am gave us a ride to my house. My stepdad was furious and was going to drive over there and kill the cop but was deterred by our local cop who said he would handle it. Next morning Pinkie drove to Fall Creek to have coffee with police chief and the offending jerk ended up fired that morning with enough put in his record he likely was never a policeman again. Satisfactory outcome to me.

Of course this was before unions protected the jerks and made you hire them back.

I met a man who was in a Criminal Justice program at college. He seemed like a clean cut guy. In talking to him it became obvious he was a bigot.

He proceeded to tell me he was in criminal justice to become a police officer. What was his motivation? He wanted to be able to speed and violate laws with impunity by flashing a badge.

Does this sound like the kind of person we want in law enforcement?

As they say, power corrupts. He didn't need power and longed for the corruption he could obtain with power.

"People who hunger for power are the very ones that should be denied it."
