That's the problem. You're "imagining" the worst-case scenarios, no matter how unlikely they were from becoming reality.

The banks weren't going to disappear. The insurance industry in all its forms wasn't going to disappear. Plenty of banks and insurance companies out there willing to take up the slack.

Funny how the recession ended with only 15% of the $787B "stimulus" package spent. If the situation was as dire as you claimed it was, then certainly it would have required a much bigger "stimulus" than what was actually done, and Obama wouldn't have to brag about "creating or saving" jobs that ONLY had an 0.4% impact on unemployment. (And that's if you take his inflated numbers as the truth.)

Your arguments just don't fit the facts. Doesn't matter how sincere your feelings are.
