Well the other difference in my case is this was 35 years ago in rural WI. Only danger I suppose we faced was being hit by one of the 5 cars we saw. In fact I imagine if we had felt the urge we could have walked up to the first farm house we came to and they would have let us use their phone if they didn't just get dressed to give us a ride home.
