"Last 10 years was a secular bear." Well it's always something, isn't it? Now, as you point out, we're up against a currency crisis and, by extension, gargantuan debt defaults. Unless an investor puts in a LOT of time to understand this and tries to plan accordingly i.e. rationally, he/she gets the shaft. And, as I said earlier, if you try to play by the rules as they exist, they still try to shaft you. See last year's ban on short selling (which caught me heavily short) as an example.
