If we dismiss the arguments of those we disagree with, there's little left to talk about. All that would be left is shouting chants at/past each other, ignoring each other, or just having whichever side can grab the most political power force its opinion on everyone else without bothering to listen to their concerns.

I would take "the insurance company's" word for it before I would the collective word of either house or caucus in either house of Congress.

At least when an insurance company says it you can try to verify it. When Harry Reid says it he whispers it in a back room with no one watching but him.
