jim,

Is it really legal for companies to sell calls/ buy puts or initiate any short position in their stock? I know it's illegal for anyone to assume a short position in the company I work for.

Say some company sells 8000 calls and announces grim foward statements shortly before expiry. Sure sounds illegal.
