Stock splits aren't necessarily good news... For individual investors! When markets top, companies split the stock to facilitate distribution to the public. Distribution is a fancy word for "hot potato". With liquidity drying up around the globe at a dizzying rate, there have never been so many hot potatoes flying around as now, chiefly in US equities. Company insiders and Wall Street are on the same team... if you're an individual investor you've gotta take care of yourself, because they sure won't. Remember, the goal is not to be the last one holding one of these suckers! Sometimes a split is a warning to split! An old grizzly.
