Hi Vinod,

With due respect to you, I do not see Microsoft dropping to $100 unless there is a split.

But as you say if it drops to $100, I do see all the tech stocks taking a beating since MSFT is the bellweather of the tech industry, even though all the tech stocks have already been beaten down.

Let me give you an example: CSCO is the bellweather of the networking industry. If you notice today's price CSCO is trading nearly at its peak whereas all the other networkers have gone down significantly like ASND and COMS. But if you look at last week's action, CSCO was going up and down. When CSCO moved down (because of market conditions) all the networkers went down. ASND dropped down from $32 to around $26. But when CSCO moved up, the other networkers went up only slightly even though CSCO moved up significantly.

Right now, the market sentiment has changed. People are moving to high quality stocks (stocks in the first tier of their respective sectors). That is one of the reasons I see MSFT not going down below $120 even in the worst scenario. If it goes down further, I see people selling their other holdings and moving it to MSFT.

MSFT has absolutely no competiton and it won't too much affected by what is going on in ASIA. MSFT has a lot of great products coming up in the future. When INTEL introduces Merced processor, I forsee most of the major corporations in the US switching to MERCED/NT from their current environment. That itself is going to be significant in terms of Microsoft's revenues in the not too distant future.

What about countries like China, India where there are millions and millions of people and companies with great growth potential in the future (2 to 5 years) ? You may argue that most of the people in those countries do not have enough money to buy food let alone computers. But things are changing. India is going to be the second largest software producer in the world. Do you know how they will build their software ? With computers/software.

Software is here to stay and MSFT is going to be the leader for number of years to come.

Go Microsoft.

Regards,
-sr
