There is only one mining industry. That is the one that extracts
metal at a profit from rock or mineral hosts.

What was described in the dissertation is absolutely conventional except the grade should slack off as you approach the water table in
a hot spring type depssit that precipitated downwards.

Contrary to what you might be led to believe the players in the industry are dynamic and evolving to economics and conditions. every orebody is unique and requires engineering and solutions. Certain people get left behind in some areas but it would surprise you how much the fogies grasp about these newfangled gizmos. Some fossils like Duncan Crone actually innovate as they get nearer to lithification. Best downhole 3D system in the biz and he is old enough to be your grandad.
