When I am interested and/or hungry, I might watch with cash for week or more before I see a 'can't miss' trade. And I might turn and close it out hour later (example, bought MCAF at 61 and sold hour later at 63. It went to 66 (ouch) and then down to 57 (whew!) within the next day as I recall. A trade like that can keep me fed for weeks. Anything else is gravy. On the other hand, this last week wiped out several weeks of meat and potatoes. The reason, I do this is I am too impatient to do what Buffett and Lynch do (they are the smart ones).

I have also sold positions for no other reason than I was tired of keeping one eye on the ticker.
