We should select good teachers from among accomplished people in other professions. Jaime Escalante is an example. He was a mathematician who became a teacher and taught kids calculus so well they thought the whole class cheated on the SAT test.

People should be selected and rewarded on the basis of how and what they are good at, not tenure, who they know, or how many degrees they have.
