I built a little tray for my Sony Vaio out of walnut. It's very light and holds it at a slight angle for typing, and clears the cooling ports on the bottom.

Maybe I'll post a picture of it. It works great.

My Vaio has Vista. I've never had a single problem with it, although I fail to see any advantage over XP.

My desktop has XP. My new Acer Netbook has XP also. I deliberately waited until Windows 7 came out to turn the bundled Acer back into Costco. I could have had an HP with Windows 7 for about the same money, but I did not like the keyboard, and after seeing that the Netbooks only run Windows 7 Starter Edition, I decided to go with what I knew.

Vista has some bells and whistles, but I don't use them. I've heard Vista is a memory hog. My Vaio has a dual processor, so I do not notice any performance degrade.

I like the little Acer a lot. That's one reason why I had trouble deciding to turn in my Acer bundle with the DVD that didn't work. I liked the Netbook itself very much, and ended up with an exact match with a better battery.
