Well, Lassonde himself spoke of the advantage of having ready cash to buy any bargains that might turn up. Too much of what I hold is not marginable, so I can't borrow very much on it. I wondered if maybe he and Schulich might have found themselves a little short on cash a year ago when everything tanked simultaneously. I was able to take positions in gold then because of holding bear funds (although those things never did performa as well as they were supposed to do, they did have the effect of preserving investible funds).
