Agreed! I only wish I had bought more stock at the March bottom. Having failed to do so I am now hopeful that this current under performance of small caps will allow me one more opportunity to buy.

I am not bearish. But I am not going to expect the market to have the kind of once or twice in a lifetime rise that we saw from 1998 to early 2000.

Heck when that happened semiconductor and semi-cap stocks were still relatively undervalued compared to so much of the market in early 2000.

Has everyone forgotten all the hype that surrounded the stock market at that time? So many stocks with no actual earnings that traded at unrealistic valuations. Semiconductor and semi-equipment stocks looked cheap by comparison to me.

They are much cheaper now. But are they historically cheap? Compared to any time except before 1990 in many cases yes. But the S&P 500 has yet to hit a bear market low type of valuation. Unfortunately that happens once or twice in a lifetime too.

We will get cyclical lows like last March and highs most likely a year or more later but not the kind of appreciation we saw between 1998-2000 again for many years for the overall market in my humble opinion.

Will the SOX exceed 1362 one day?

I certainly hope so.
