I doubt it. This is a miner fund like GDX, which is not bad if you'd like to get long an index like HUI. There are quite a few nutty types in the gold bug community. GLD, in particular, is a physical fund. It is true that it carries more risk than gold bars, but it has been one of the major investment demand sources in the last few years. It is also true that the gold market is subject to naked commercial shorting and some significant manipulation. On the other hand, what isn't?
