Brumar, I mentioned before that Obama was delaying his decision on Afghanistan for purely political reasons, which drew an indignant response from RW. But the truth is that politics always plays a HUGE role in military decisions as these. It was true for Clinton and it was true for W. And I believe McChrystal knows this, which is why his request for 40,000 additional troops may be on the high side. But the more important question is this: Will McChrystal's new strategy, to win the hearts and minds of Afghanis, work? Tenchusatsu
