Actually states like MS and SC DO attract industry and the south doesn't necessarily match your biased stereotypes.

Some places do attract creative liberal minded people and over time those liberal minded people put in places policies and programs that eventually damage the economy ... its happened in NY and CA. Then they elect Republicans who have to try to clean up the mess.
