MH, i eat those things from time to time. no, i don't kid myself that they are "healthy" - especially the excessive inflammation inducing fat. assuming no genetic hypersensitivity to inflammation, they aren't too bad when moderated and not eaten with the typical fries and sugared soda. throw in the fries (induces insulin and saturated with inflammation inducing fats) and sugared soda (elevates insulin), though, and you have a happy chronic disease inducing meal. there are two main problems. first, the typical health "expert" has no clue what drives cellular inflammation or how to control hunger. the doctors at harvard medical school's joslin diabetes center have been on the right track since they changed their dietary recommendations in 2005, so some progress is being made, albeit, very, very slowly. second, the typical american doesn't care because their addiction to insulin and inflammation inducing food is so strong they literally don't want to give it up to try something new (and much, much better - I've been on both sides) for even 3 days.

a new study came out and said that lack of exercise isn't the cause the childhood obesity epidemic - it is diet. in fact, i might even argue that kids get more exercise today than in the past due to having to carry around an extra 20-40 lbs everywhere they go.

as sick as americans currently are, there is every indication that future generations will be even more sick.

it is very difficult to fight off the effects of a life time of chronic cellular inflammation induced primarily by one SAD - the standard american diet.
