Exactly. It really goes back to the (Bush abandoned) Powell Doctrine. A defined, achievable mission and defined exit strategy. The Powell Doctrine was the one good thing to come out of the Vietnam experience.

I'm thinking Obama might try bringing in regional partners that should be more concerned with Afghanistan and Pakistan than we are anyway - Russia, China and India.
