You don't mention the 100's of thousands of jobs saved by helping the auto companies... also hugely significant in avoiding a depression.

I don't mention it because it didn't happen. These companies would have gone into bankruptcy on their own and come out the other side as stable, well-financed organizations. As it is, they have come out as wards of the state which is no better than putting people on unemployment or giving them makework government jobs.

Obama simply repaid a campaign debt to the UAW by giving them ownership. He didn't save any jobs. And it certainly was not of consequence in the overall economic picture.

What it DID do was to permanently disrupt the capital markets by letting debtholders know they are not protecting by a legal structure that had been place for decades. It is one of the more sickening and destructive actions Obama has taken in the last 10 months.

These guys will never admit that Bush and Obama stopped the recession snowball from becoming a Bush Global Great Depression II avalanche, or how close we were to that happening. Their only aim now is to hang the current economy on Obama and take it off Bush - where it belongs. I think most people aren't fooled, but economic hard times are always tough for the party in power.
