Application for United States Flag for Burial Purposes, and submitting it with a copy of the veteran's discharge papers at either of the locations

that's important. a bit back we looked through all his papers, including the telegrams he'd sent home, and it has his thing you pin on that says he is a sniper... okay, I need to make sure I know where that file is (it was one and only time he'd brought it out), and talk with him about it and be ready to make the calls and have the papers to present.

I don't know from reading that if the guys who shoot off the salute are possible, but... I think he did much more than he says when he says "I fixed trucks". he never brings it up except a couple of times, but it matters to him to have military honors. I know my father... if he 'just fixed trucks at base", he might like the marker but not mention the rest. he is far too humble.

and does a mechanic get a medal for his shirt as a sniper??? something I discovered just a year ago. he just shrugged when I found it and said "ya know how good I was at shooting squirrels". maybe he does. I dunno. I guess I need to dance around the subject with him. there are certainly soldiers here who would do right by him, this is Alabama, afterall.
