But our govt does and that's what counts. That's a very awkward fact for guys with the same views as yourself......

Not at all. If you want to create change, you have to position yourself in such a way that you can influence the situation.

The Saudis need the US to back them up. We need them to use their influence to counter Wahabbist influence, both in Saudi Arabia, as well as the rest of the region. For years they abided by that Faustian bargain they made with the Fundamentalists/Militants of "don't bother us and we won't bother you" and that relationship is now nowhere to the extent that it once was.

After all, there are 30,000 Saudis in the royal family, and 20 million subjects.

Admittedly, it a delicate dance, but it's one both governments have to engage in.

What you're suggesting would literally start WW3.....

Where have you been.. It started on 9/11. And from the Muslim militant's perspective, it's been raging for 1000 years.

That's, in part, one of the reasons we overthrew Saddam. It was similar to invading Neutral Vichy French colonies in order to take the battle to the enemy and fight on their home turf.
