So why is that going to change just because Intel and AMD finaly start pushing out designs that get into acceptable power ranges, given the guarded IP issues with x86 CPU's?

I don't know if a "Bobcat+" service will ever emerge at all... I just see an opening there based on the supposed ability to use Bobcat as a module.

Vs. Arm: There's the simple advantage of x86 compatibility. (This is coming from an advocate and long-time owner (Nokia n800) of ARM MIDs.)

Vs. Intel: What hoops does Intel want a 3rd party to jump through? I'd say their terms are likely onerous compared to what AMD might offer... Intel is not known for being friendly with alien IP.

I.e. "We'll work with you (at arms length) until we can roll our own version..." after which, it's, "Good luck renegotiating that bus license."
