But didn't atheism itself (by definition), came AFTER versions of god that were reprehensible to those with the idea? Upgrading software is often a good thing, no? I see nothing wrong with incorperating "not this" "not that" into ones philisophical/moral ideas... but I'm not an expert.

Besides, there are probably all sorts of ancient 'moralities' that aren't necessarily tied to 'religion' no? I'm not up on these things, but doubt it matters. Many people for example thing Buddhism and or Taoism are philophies not really religions... don't think it's worth arguing the point.

I can imagine a LOT of gods (including some versions of Christian gods) that I'm "atheist towards". I'm atheist towards all hateful, vindicitve gods.

One can turn on "BTV" (Bible Thumper Vision) and find glimpses (of gods) on almost every episide, every week that I'm aethist towards!
